these are super cute (and edcuational)!

Coloring books

I think these are super super cute! I wish I would have had a coloring book like this when I was little. Heck, I wish I had a coloring book like this NOW. hehe. <3

I have a few

I have a few suggestions:

Books:

Shacking Up: The Smart Girls Guide to Living in Sin Without Getting Burned by Stacy and Wynne Whitman - a book all about moving in with your significant other, discussese how to prepare legally, financially, etc.

Birth by Tina Cassidy - I'm partial to this book, it's all about the history of the maternity care system in the United States, so interesting!

Some sort of financial readiness/going-into-the-real-world-and-how-the-hell-do-I-get-a-job-and-pay-my-bills book. One I've skimmed and found useful was Chick Living by Kris Koederitz Melcher - has good advice about cover letters/resumes/saving money.

If the Buddha Dated - I've never been into dating books but my friend loaned me this book once and it is now my dating bible. It is very grounded and realistic has chapters on all sorts of situations like meeting people online, first dates, same-sex dating, deciding what you want and sticking to it. It's a little tacky at places, but most of the advice and guidance is very down-to-earth even for non-spiritual people such as myself.

Movies:

The Business of Being Born - This is a phenomenal documentary about the medicalized birth system in the United States, it really inspired me and I'm doing my thesis on it now!

Other:

Knitting supplies - an assortment of knitting needles and different yarns and maybe a couple of intro-to-knitting books, we could get the 3 Stitch and Bitch books, 2 about knitting, 1 about crochet.

Women Make Movies catalogue

They offer discounts if you choose several films within the same themed collection. In keeping with our Global Women theme, folks may want to check out the international human rights collection: http://www.wmm.com/filmcatalog/collect14.shtml. "Everyone Their Grain of Sand," "Finding Dawn," "The Greatest Silence," and...well all of them look excellent.

Also, WSAC might be interested in the films from WMM's Transcending Gender collection: http://www.wmm.com/filmcatalog/collect21.shtml.

As for buying books: perhaps members interested in picking out books might want to carpool over to the True Colors bookstore together, and then maybe Arise and Mayday as well. Maybe next monday after the meeting?

Movies

I think "Highway Courtesans" and "Finding Dawn" sound awesome.

I think some WSAC folks made

I think some WSAC folks made a list of books a while ago - must be floating around somewhere...I know Feminine Mystique was on there...I found a magazine rack similar to the one we have in the room already.
