WSAC's Newest Web Site

I wrote a post similar to this only a few months ago when I set up a WordPress Web site and blog for WSAC. I posted our meeting minutes online for most of the semester, but other than that the site didn't get much traffic.

But now we're starting fresh. Over the summer we've initiated a new staff person (Grace!), completely messed up our office space, purchased some shiny new shelves and awesome new storage containers, and cleaned everything up (except for the roughly sixteen boxes of old files ... we're getting to those). We've also realized that we need a better system of organization for administrative stuff, too. That's where this Web site comes in.

This new new WSAC site is built with Drupal, a free (as in speech and as in beer) and open-source content management system (CMS). I've used Drupal for more Web sites than I can count. Here's just a few of the ideas I plan to implement over the next few months:

  • A calendar for both public and internal events
  • A forum to encourage discussion outside of meeting times
  • Photo galleries and summary pages for events
  • Event evaluation forms
  • Detailed user profiles (optional, of course)

Basically, I can mold this site to do just about anything we want, from publicity for our projects to internal organization and everything in between.

This website is so cool!

Great job on the new and improved website Brook! Thanks so much for setting it up! Now on to an excellent fall and spring semester! XOXO
