Next MNCAFE meeting!

Hello WSACERs and friends,

The next meeting for the MNCAFE coalition (basically a push for a state level ERA) is THIS Thursday, October 22 from 5: 30 to 7:30 at the MN Women's Building, 550 Rice Street, St Paul. I'll be there and I hope to see you there as well! FYI I am heading up the college/high school recruiting so if you know folks or student groups at other schools who might be interested in joining the coalition, let me know. Our November fundraiser for this group is going to be a celebration of Sojourner Truth's birthday. Keep your eyes peeled for more information...

MNCAFE information

For those who are interested, I wanted to provide more information about constitutional equality, at both the state and federal level. Here is a bit of information about constitutional equality from the MNCAFE (Minnesota Constitutional Amendment for Equality)Coalition's website, http://mncafecoalition.wordpress.com/. Scroll down to the section on the main page titled "Correcting the Record: Q & A on Constitutional Equality." I read through this and thought it was very informative and interesting.

WSAC calls for an end to the occupation of Afghanistan

Today, the 8th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan, WSAC stood with SDS and demanded a stop to the violence against the Afghan people. This was a national day of action, so keep an eye out for news on protests across the country! I spoke on behalf of WSAC, and my speech is copypasted below for your reading pleasure.

End Patriarchal Violence!

Check out what's going on! Oct. 5th!

WSAC Meeting Minutes 10/5/09: Discover Exceptional Women Week

-Evaluation of “La Boda” for those that went to the film screening

-Next Global Women is “Provoked”: a WSAC/Aurora Center event. Carla is designing the poster. Amanda and Carla are hanging up the posters. Who can assist them? Should be a rockin’ good time! We also brought up the idea of keeping Global Women around since the success has been so great. More opinions on this would be great.

-Sex Ed for Everyone! Premiere this Wednesday 7pm in the West Bank Auditorium.

9/28 meeting notes

Hi WSACers,

Our second installment of our Global Women film series is tomorrow (Wed. 9/30) at 6pm. The film is “La Boda” (translation: “The Wedding”) and is about a Mexican girl coming of age in a migrant community. There will be free pizza and members of the Chicano/Latino student group La Raza will help lead the post-film discussion. Thanks to Amanda for her poster design. Will the folks who volunteered to distribute said posters stop by wsac today to pick them up? Thanks.
